Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist A.Fontaine.

How did you decide to become an artist?

A.Fontaine: back in 1996 when i used to be on the block i used to watch my peoples freestyling to instrumentals.it caught my interest so i went home and started writing in secret.i didint let anybody know till a year later when i approached one of the cats from my block who happened to be in a rap group called ’CrazeMen’. I spit a verse a him.after that he put me down with the group.before that i was a rapper.being in CrazeMen i learned how to be an artist.

if you really want it that bad you gotta give your all

- A.Fontaine

What about concerts? Do you play live?

yes i do perform live in clubs and lounges when the oppurtunity arises

Best punchline you ever wrote?

dont ever think for a minute that A wont shoot ya ass/you’ll get X’d man i’ll show you your days of future past
- A.Fontaine

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

right now i’m putting the finishing on an album with another artist from the bronx named Debut called ’The Blatant Beast’.it should be out in July.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

no i wouldn’t sign with a label.at the end of the day a label has the say so about when your album gets released.sometimes you have no creative control over your own music.i’d rather go the independent route.the only pro to being signed with a label is getting better promotion but thats not always the case.

Any last words?

shout out to the CrazeMen crew,my brother Debut, the Meta4Nation,the Power Circle, the 30 and over league in philly and all my peoples in Queensbridge projects,Ravenswood projects,Spanish Harlem and the rest of NYC!!!
